The Cognac appellation welcomes the public at the Grand Tasting on 1 & 2 december

The Cognac sector, via its interprofession and nearly 30 brands, will be present at one of the key trade shows at the end of the year, the Grand Tasting in Paris on 1 and 2 December 2023. An area dedicated to Cognac will welcome visitors throughout the show, with several highlights to help amateurs and novices alike (re)discover the aromatic richness of Cognac in cocktails.

 

For all lovers of great wines and spirits, the Grand Tasting Paris is the perfect opportunity to come and taste the world’s finest products. Nearly 300 French and international producers will be at the Carrousel du Louvre for the 17th Grand Tasting Paris organised by Bettane+Dessauve.

The BNIC, which has been present since the very first event, will be welcoming professionals and enlightened amateurs to help them (re)discover the Cognac appellation through a diversity of cognacs expressing a unique terroir. Nearly 30 brands have responded positively to this opportunity offered by the interprofession.

Various events focusing on Cognac in cocktails will be held over the two days of the show at the interprofessional area:

 

– “Le Cognac, résolument cocktail”: tasting Cognac cocktails in the Cognac appellation area throughout the show.

– “Le rendez-vous du Cognac en long drink”: twice a day, Cognac will be available as a long drink with a Cognac tasting accompanied by a choice of tonic or ginger ale.  Information: Friday and Saturday at 12.30pm and 4.30pm

– “Cognac culture around the world”: 20-minute cocktail workshops will be held over the two days, led by Germain Canto, mixologist and Cognac Educator, to highlight Cognac’s place on the world cocktail scene. Information: Friday and Saturday at 2.00, 3.00, 4.00 and 5.00 p.m.

– “Cognac Academy, learn about Cognac in 45 minutes”: a fun, interactive quiz using Cognac’s new e-learning tool to perfect your knowledge of this French spirit exported and appreciated the world over.

The BNIC, or Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac, represents, develops and preserves the Cognac AOC (Appellation d’origine contrôlée), both in France and abroad.

In the 150 or so countries where Cognac is sold, this Geographical Indication provides consumers with a guarantee that they are buying an outstanding wine spirit. Comprising an equal number of members from the winegrowing and commercial sides of the industry, the BNIC is a coordination and decision-making body which brings together almost 4,300 winegrowers and grower-distillers, 120 professional distillers, and 265 merchants operating within the appellation.
