Over the period 1 August 2021 to 31 July 2022, Cognac shipments continued to show strong growth with 222.1 million bottles shipped, representing 3.8 billion euros in turnover. After a year of sharp rebound in volumes shipped following the COVID-19 health crisis, shipments remain robust with an adjustment in pace (-3.1%) that was expected and an increase in value (+17.7%) due to a move upmarket and a favourable exchange rate.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Over the period 1 August 2021 to 31 July 2022, 222.1 million bottles of Cognac were shipped, representing 3.8 billion euros in turnover.<\/p>\n

Last year saw a sharp rebound in volumes shipped following the COVID-19 health crisis, with record levels for Cognac. Shipments remain robust this year with an adjustment in pace (- 3.1%) that was expected.<\/p>\n

The increase in value of Cognac shipments (+17.7%) is explained by a move upmarket in exports and a favourable euro-dollar exchange rate.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past few months, Cognac has continued its promising trajectory on its markets. In an uncertain global context, the sector wishes to remain cautious for the months to come while consolidating its medium and long-term development prospects\u201d, BNIC President, Mr. Christophe Veral, commented.<\/p>\n

In detail, the NAFTA1<\/sup> zone remains the leading Cognac market with 121.7 million bottles shipped over the marketing year, representing a 2.7% decrease in volume and an 18.7% increase in value compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n

Shipments to the Far East2<\/sup> recorded a 7.6% drop in volume and a 16.6% increase in value compared to the previous marketing year, with 51.9 million bottles shipped.<\/p>\n

Shipments in Europe3<\/sup> followed a stable trend, recording a 0.3% decrease in volume and a 11.3% increase in value compared to the previous marketing year, with a total of 36.6 million bottles shipped.<\/p>\n
